The Story Behind Myers Poultry Farm
Myers Poultry has grown from humble beginnings into a trusted name in the poultry industry. What started on a small farm in rural Pennsylvania is now a family-run poultry farm known for high-quality day-old chicks, broilers, turkeys, and other poultry varieties. The heart of our success? A dedicated teenage girl named Diane Myers, whose hard work and passion have driven Myers Poultry for over 30 years.
A Childhood on the Farm
Diane Myers grew up on her family’s farm in South Fork, Pennsylvania. From a young age, she worked alongside her parents, feeding and caring for cows, pigs, and chickens. Life on the farm taught Diane the value of hard work and resilience. It wasn’t unusual to see her up before dawn, taking care of the animals or helping with farm chores. While she enjoyed being around livestock, she had no idea that poultry would one day become her lifelong pursuit.
Her introduction to the poultry industry came from a neighbor who owned a busy poultry farm specializing in started capons. At the time, Diane wasn’t familiar with caponizing, but her curiosity drove her to help out. What began as a favor turned into a passion. Diane quickly mastered the art of caponizing and found herself deeply invested in the work.
The Birth of Myers Poultry
In 1988, Diane was asked to take over the business operations. This marked the official beginning of what is now Myers Poultry—originally known as Myers Started Capons. Diane's commitment to quality and her hands-on approach to every aspect of the farm helped it grow.
What started as a focus on high-quality started capons gradually expanded. Myers Poultry began offering a wide variety of day-old poultry, including broilers, layers, ducks, goslings, and gamebirds. Today, our poultry farm ships across the continental United States, serving both small-scale backyard farmers and large commercial operations.
A Growing Legacy
Despite the growth of Myers Poultry, we’ve remained true to our small-town roots. The farm is still located just down the road from where Diane grew up, and Diane herself remains an integral part of the business. When you call us, there’s a good chance you’ll hear Diane’s warm, welcoming voice on the other line. Our poultry farm continues to offer the same friendly, reliable service that has kept us a trusted name in the industry for more than three decades.
As the poultry farm evolves and adapts to an ever-changing market, one thing remains constant—our unwavering commitment to quality. Each chick, duckling, and poult we raise is handled with the utmost care. We understand that every farmer—whether they’re raising poultry for meat, eggs, or show— deserves healthy, high-quality birds that meet their unique needs.
Looking Toward the Future
As Diane hands the farm to the next generation, we’re excited to continue the legacy she built from the ground up. The family business is expanding, but at its core, it remains a close-knit operation. Our team, which includes both long-time employees and loyal customers, is the heart of our success. Over the years, we’ve built a strong community based on trust, dedication, and the shared goal of providing top-tier poultry to farmers across the country.
We don’t just see ourselves as a poultry farm; we see ourselves as part of a larger community of farmers, hobbyists, and enthusiasts who are all passionate about raising healthy, productive birds. That community has helped us become a leader in the poultry industry, and it’s the reason we’re so excited for the future.
