Breed Comparison Chart
Like the Golden Layer, the White Layer duck is one of our top egg-producing breeds. Egg production is identical, so you can expect the same high yield regardless of color. The primary differences are in physical appearance and the parent stock used.

White Layer: Best Egg Laying Duck

The White Layer has stark white plumage with orange shanks, feet, and bills. They are a classic looking duck, equal parts beauty and function. This hybrid was developed several years after the success of the Golden Layer, simply to offer another color variation with comparable egg yield.

In optimal conditions, White Layers can produce between 200-290 eggs per year. White Layer ducks are an excellent choice for growers that value reliable egg production and a gentle temperament in their birds.

Another benefit to this breed is that they typically live longer than other duck breeds, as they have been selectively bred to have optimal genetics and good health. They are also quite friendly and docile, so they are much easier to handle than the Khaki Campbell, which tends to be skittish.

The White Layer duck is a natural forager and they make a great addition to any backyard flock. They are primarily valued for their egg laying abilities.

These birds do not fly. They may occasionally go broody.

Mature weight between 4.5 to 5.75 lbs.
