A high production layer. The main difference between the White Layer and the Golden Layer is their egg coloration and their physical appearance. Growers can expect similarly high egg yield with either breed.
The White Layer has stark white plumage with orange shanks, feet, and bills. They are a classic looking duck, equal parts beauty and function.
This duck does not breed true, so for growers that may try to breed on their own, coloration and characteristics can be hard to predict for future generations.
In optimal conditions, White Layers can produce between 200-290 eggs per year. Like the Golden Layer, these birds were selectively bred to become top egg producing ducks. White Layer ducks are an excellent choice for growers that value reliable egg production.
Another benefit to this breed is that they typically live longer than other duck breeds, as they have been selectively bred to have optimal genetics and good health. They are also quite friendly and docile, so they are much easier to handle than the Khaki Campbell.
These birds are natural foragers and make a great addition to any backyard flock. They are primarily used for their egg laying capabilities.
These birds do not fly. They may occasionally go broody.
