White Pekins. White Crested ducks are a medium-sized bird.
Their most unique trait is the fluffy crest of feathers atop their head, giving them a charming look. The crest may vary in size, and take some time to fully develop.
When it comes to egg production, The White Crested duck is not as prolific as other laying duck breeds. In optimal conditions, the White Crested can lay between 100-130 eggs per year. They are not likely to go broody.
While they can be used for egg or meat production, this duck breed is mostly prized as a pet or for show and ornamental purposes. Personality wise, White Crested ducks tend to be more on the skittish side. They are hardy and thrive in just about any climate.
These birds do not fly. They usually do not hatch or raise their own young.
