Golden Layer Ducklings

Product ID: 4GOLDE
Breed Comparison Chart
The Golden Layer duck is a high-production egg layer, even edging out the Khaki Campbell in terms of egg quantity and size. This duck breed is exceptionally easy to handle due to their friendly, calm nature.

Golden Layer: Best Egg Laying Duck

Coloration may vary, but the Golden Layer females are typically light tan to dark brown. Males tend to range from brown to black. There may also be patches of white feathers present on their chest and wings.

The Golden Layer duck does not breed true, so for growers that may try to breed on their own, coloration and characteristics can be hard to predict for future generations.

Golden Layers have been selectively bred to maximize egg production. In optimal conditions, growers can expect between 200-290 eggs per year.

In addition to their productivity, Golden Layers have been bred to retain a friendly, calm demeanor. These birds are similar in temperament to other docile duck breeds, like the Buff duck or the Blue Swedish duck. These birds are a good choice for beginners that value high egg yield as well as personality.

Golden Layer ducks are natural foragers and make a great addition to any backyard flock. They are primarily used for their egg laying abilities.

These birds do not fly. They may occasionally go broody.

Mature weight between 4.5 to 5.75 lbs.
